LONDON, November 2007
LIVCOM MARKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF FULL AWARDS
2007 marks the 10th anniversary of the full running of The
International Awards for Liveable Communities. The awards
scheme was successfully piloted in Spain in 1996 and was
launched the following year. Founder and chief executive
of the charity, Alan Smith, said: “I am really thrilled that
not only have the awards survived but they have got stronger
and stronger. As an indication, we are seeing communities
large and small, developed and under-developed, thinking
about this subject more and more and wanting to share their
growing knowledge.
“LivCom is non-political and brings people together from
different cultures and ideologies who are united by this one
idea to make their environment better for the people who
live there. This is the only forum in the world that allows
that to happen and myself and the team are immensely proud
and thrilled to be enabling this process.”
